#4 Surefire Spanish
Surefire Spanish was our least favorite of all of the spanish language learning products we reviewed. Yes, it's a good deal cheper than most, but it was not a particularly well-made course. The primary problem with this course was that it focused on teaching memory techniques to remember words rather than teaching an appreciation of the language and the vocabulary and grammar next. The result will leave you knowledgeable about certain basic vocabulary words but completely unable to speak or read the language.
Variety of Activities
Surefire Spanish is comprised of a short ebook which teaches you memory techniques and a few basic vocabulary words, and then a few simple software programs which are memory games.
None of this is particularly useful to you. The memory techniques might be helpful to you, but certainly not the software. The matching games you play in this game are not well constructed to be helpful to you in learning the language, because they don't focus on the meaning or the words, but rather, they teach you to remember the place the word was located. You don't match the word to the meaning or to the English definition, you match the word to the word. This means you get to play electronic Memory, just like you would have as a child. That doesn't
Practicality of Lessons
It's impossible to rank this course in terms of practicality because it simply isn't practical. The way they choose to teach is lousy, and the vocabulary words they teach are all over the map. Completely useless.
Linguisic Fundmentals
This course simply doesn't teach anything fundamental about the language as a whole. What you'll be left with is the ability to piece together your few vocabulary words, and that's really about it.
Overall
Surefire Spanish is a surefire way to not learn Spanish. Period. For a much better product, check out our reviews of Learning Spanish Like Crazy or Rocket Spanish.
