Hola!

When it comes to learning a popular language like spanish, there's a whole lot of choices on the market. In an attempt to help you figure out which is the best, we've done a thorough review of some of the more popular programs on the market. You might be surprised which ones ranked highly, and which did not.

In reviewing these courses, we focused on three things: variety of lessons, usability of vocabulary, and linguistic knowledge. We wanted a course that would teach us using a variety of different methods, and a program that would teach us some practical vocabulary and give us the knowledge to be able to have a regular conversation with it.

Check out our reviews of these four products below, and for more information, you can check out our detailed review of each.

#1 Rocket Spanish

The course which we ranked highest was a downloadable course called Rocket Spanish. This course has the msot reasonable price tag, and it also gives you practical spanish language practice which was taught and designed by native speakers. The lessons are concise and well managed, and there are dozens of practice activities built-in to help you learn spanish quickly.

What makes this course special was the fact that the Spanish you're learning in this course is practical, useful, conversational spanish which will make you sound like a native speaker when travelling to another country. No other course was as realistic, and no other course was as comprehensive. A great buy.

A Key Note

We've done an in-depth review of the top 4 spanish language learning programs on the market, and this was our clear choice. Feel free to read our detailed reviews, or

#2 Learning Spanish Like Crazy

For those who are scared away by the price of Rocket Spanish, there is Learning Spanish Like Crazy.

While this course is thorough and detailed, containing over 1000 hours of audio files, the fact is that it doesn't offer much in terms of linguistic skills. This course will teach you phrases and plenty of useful sentences you can use, but not necessarily how to form your own sentences or interpret what others are saying. As a result, you often sound like an amateur when carrying on conversations, but you can at least form the most useful phrases.

For many, that is fine. Learning Spanish Like Crazy is a great product for people who are traveling and just want to learn the basics, but if you want anything more, you'll need a different product.

#3 Rosetta Stone Spanish

We had very high expectations for the Rosetta Stone Spanish course, and we were definitely let down by this course. These products are considered top-notch by many, and have even been used by the US Military to help teach recruits a new language, but we're not quite sure why.

In looking through the Rosetta Stone program, we found numerous grammar, vocabulary and spelling errors, which took a lot away from the experience, and helped to teach poor practice.

Reviewers also found it tedious to have to sift through lessons which would rarely, if ever, be used in practical conversation. There were a large number of lessons where you would discuss which kind of animal was jumping over some object.

Overall, this course is decent for children, but for someone looking to have a more thorough grounding in conversational spanish, the Rosetta Stone Course is very weak.

NOTE: If you want to buy this course despite our review, you can get it on Amazon and save yourself $30 or so.

#4 Surefire Spanish

Now here's an example of a program which means well, but falls totally flat. Surefire Spanish is one of the worst spanish-learning software programs ever developed.

This program looks promising, offering to teach you memorization techniques so that you can learn Spanish quickly, and then providing some fun and exciting games to train you with, but unfortunately, it just doesn't work. Utilizing this approach, you may find yourself having a small advantage with vocabulary, but that's all you'll learn with this package.
